Pete Gadomski
Pete lives in Longmont, Colorado, where he’s a director at a geospatial software company. Pete is passionate about exercising in the outdoors, community engagement in science, and accessibility of technology. He thinks it’s important to engage folks at their level of experience while encouraging everyone to learn more and practice their knowledge. “Getting outside, enjoying the experience, and continual learning pays off over the long haul”, says Pete. He adds “It’s ok to not be epic!”
Pete has conducted field work in the San Juan mountains in Colorado (and elsewhere) to support airborne snow surveys, maintain in situ measuring stations, and take direct observations. He has experience in lidar measurements of snow, whether terrestrial, airborne, or drone based, and he did his masters thesis based on lidar measurements of a glacier.
What is community science? Why join CSO?
To Pete, the term [community science] involves engaging everyone, when they’re outside, to think about the systems around them and how those systems affect our lives. Pete used to work outside in the field more as a part of his day job. Now that he’s in a new line of work, he’s stoked to have a chance to stay engaged and keep engaging with his friends and community around snow science!
