Holiday Snow Hunt Contest (Dec 15-Jan 15)

We’re kicking off snow season 2024-2025 with a classic data collection contest! Measure snow depth and submit to the Snow Scope app for a chance to win a great prize from Backcountry Access.

Where? Undisturbed snow anywhere in the U.S.*

When? December 15, 2024 – January 15, 2025

How? Measure full snowpack depth using a snow probe, ruler or yard stick. To account for variability, take three measurements within a radius of ~1 m and calculate the average value. Submit the average value into the Snow Scope app. Repeat at least 100 m away from your previous measurements. See more detailed tutorials here.

*Due to shipping constraints we’re unable to send prizes outside of the U.S, but if you live outside of the U.S and would like to participate in the contest, we’d be stoked to see your data points!
